Tantrum – Tantrum!
As parents, we sometimes have to deal with a few tantrums before our toddler understands that he or she is just not going to get everything their little hearts desire. Children at young age are discovering two things: themselves and… how far they need to go before you crack up and give them what it is they want.
Disciplining our child has never been an easy subject to master. This said, some parents manage quite well, while others need support. That’s where the Association for Community Living’s Early Intervention Program comes in.
Now in its 17th year, A.C.L.’s Early Intervention Program is committed to offer excellent support and guidance to families with children from age 0 to 5. Interventionists with many years of experience can show you techniques and offer you various tools that can help you ease into better communication between you and your child. “It’s all in the approach” states an Interventionist at ACL. “One of our most successful tool is the “1-2-3 Magic” video that we view with the parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers. The secret is to get the whole family interested and participating.”
The A.C.L. Early Intervention Program can also direct you to various organizations or resources that exist in our community. Don’t forget to visit their web site: www. childmadvic.com. It’s home to numerous useful community web links and information. You can even register to get their monthly electronic newsletter.
Parents, caregivers… don’t give up. Discipline can be easier than you think. Don’t wait any longer and contact Brigitte LaPointe (Director of the A.C.L.’s Early Intervention Program in Grand Falls) at 475-4068 to know more about the program. You can also apply directly through the New Brunswick Public Health Services by calling 475-2441.
